From Rock to Roots: Building Dreams One Load at a Time

The Hammie Ranch doesn’t rise in one day; it’s coming together one prayer, one load of rock, and one giant dream at a time.

This week, we’re making another big step: finishing the driveway.
We got our culvert pipes in (if you missed that adventure full of sliced hands and alligator-infested waters, go read that blog post here).

Now, it’s time to bring in the fill rock and actually see the entryway to The Hammie Ranch take shape.

It might sound simple. It’s just a driveway, right?

But to us, it’s the front door to everything we’ve prayed for.
Every time a truck pulls in…
Every family that visits to cuddle chickens or learn about off-grid living…
Every future cow, goat, or duck that calls this place home—
They’ll all roll through that wide driveway.

And y’all, God’s fingerprints are all over it.

Dreams That Cost and Dreams That Matter

After the rock is in, our next big investment?
Saving for the stallion semen that will eventually give us the horse our hearts have dreamed of.
(Yes, we’re those people now. Talking about breeding plans over coffee and budgeting for frozen genetics like it’s gold. Because… it kind of is.)

We’ve got our eye on an incredible paint stallion, and we know it’s going to be pricey, but worth it. This horse will be part of our family legacy. A partner, a teacher, a best friend for life. We’re not rushing it. We’re just preparing for it.

Next Steps: Clear Ground, Open Space, Fresh Start

While we wait and save, we’re getting ready to clear the land.
Not just to make it pretty, but to make space for our first camper and get living on the property!
And right behind that?
The chicken coops. 🐓
Because what’s a ranch without morning clucks and fluffy-but-sassy hens running around?

We’ll be starting small, with our favorite silkies and layers, and growing from there.

Building From Bare Ground and Big Faith

None of this is happening overnight.
It’s happening the real way: the sweaty, budgeted, faith-filled way.

We don’t have a mailbox yet.
But we do have vision.
We do have drive.
We do have Jesus.

And brick by brick, rock by rock, post by post, the Hammie Ranch is becoming something beautiful.

So if you’re reading this while you dream of starting something of your own, let this be your encouragement:

Start with what you have.
Keep showing up.
Don’t despise the small beginnings.
And write Scripture on everything—even your culvert pipes.

Because the miracle is in the making. And it’s happening… right now.

Stick around, because the next updates are going to be GOOD. Between chicken fluff, horse dreams, and camper living, we’re just getting started.
