Love Is a Choice
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
— 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 (NIV)
This morning on the porch, the Lord reminded me of something simple: love is not a feeling, it’s a choice.
It’s easy to love when everything is peaceful. But what about when your spouse isn’t being patient? When the tone is sharp, or when kindness isn’t being returned?
That’s when real love, God’s love, steps in.
The kind that chooses patience even when emotions run high.
The kind that chooses kindness when frustration tries to take over.
Love that doesn’t depend on what’s happening around you, but on Who lives within you.
“Love is patient…” even when your spouse isn’t.
“Love is kind…” even when words are not.
Love chooses peace when pride wants to win.
Love chooses prayer when arguing feels easier.
And here’s something many won’t understand, but heaven does:
A wife’s prayer life is essential for her home.
Your prayers rattle hell.
They shift the atmosphere.
They move mountains that conversations alone never could.
When you pray over your husband, your children, and your home, you are warring in the Spirit. You’re building a hedge of protection around your family. You are standing in the gap when the enemy tries to sneak through the cracks.
Prayer is not passive, it’s powerful.
And it’s the number one most effective way to change your household.
You might not be able to control everything that happens inside your walls, but you can control what comes out of your mouth and what goes up to Heaven.
Because when a wife gets on her knees in prayer, hell trembles.
When she walks in love instead of offense, light fills the home.
When she speaks with gentleness, peace begins to take root.
Your husband may be the head of the household, but you, dear woman, are the heart, and your prayers are its heartbeat.
So, keep loving. Keep praying. Keep choosing peace when it doesn’t make sense.
Your home will begin to notice. Heaven already has. 💛
