The Gift of Waiting for Flourishion
This morning, I sat with my Bible and my journal open, and the Lord began stirring something deep in my heart. I was reading through Ecclesiastes 3, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” I’ve read those words so many times before, but today, they felt different. Almost like the Holy Spirit whispered,
“This is your season of becoming. Don’t rush it.”
We live in a world that moves fast, where answers are expected immediately, deliveries come overnight, and waiting feels like a punishment instead of a gift. But in the Kingdom, waiting is sacred ground. It’s the soil where faith grows strong roots.
In the Bible study I attend, Experience Jesus, Really, we talked about how our culture is addicted to instant everything. But God… He works in rhythms. Seasons. Stillness. Sometimes He hides us away not to punish us, but to prepare us for flourishion, that beautiful bloom that comes only after deep growth in the unseen.
When I think about Esther, the woman who was told she was born “for such a time as this” (Esther 4:14), I wonder how many quiet, unseen seasons she went through before that moment. She didn’t know the full plan. She didn’t rush it. She just trusted that her time would come.
Esther 4:14
14 If you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will come to the Jewish people from another place, but you and your father’s family will be destroyed. Who knows, perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this.”
And maybe that’s what God is asking of us, too. To sit patiently in the waiting room of Heaven. To trust that what looks like a pause is actually a purpose. That the buds of our calling are swelling under the surface, even when we can’t see the petals yet.
Because flourishing doesn’t happen overnight, it happens in time. In His time.
So if you’re in that slow season, the one that feels quiet, overlooked, or stuck, I want to remind you: this isn’t wasted time. It’s holy time. The Lord is cultivating something in you that will bloom when the light hits just right.
Keep tending your soil. Keep showing up in faith. Keep trusting the timing of the One who knows the end from the beginning.
You were made for such a time as this.
And when your season of flourishion comes, oh friend… it will be worth every moment of the wait. 💛
