We’re Back in Business: Two More Acres Cleared at The Hammie Ranch!
Friends, it finally happened… after weeks of waiting, the machines are rolling again, and we are officially back in the land clearing business at The Hammie Ranch in Florida! 🌿
As exciting as this land-clearing process has been, it hasn’t come without challenges. Our guy, who has been faithfully working so hard to help us clear The Hammie Ranch, actually got hit by a dump truck recently while in his rig. Praise God, he’s okay and recovering, but it shook us all up and reminded us how dangerous this kind of work can be. We are so thankful for his dedication and that he’s still here with us, and it’s made us even more grateful for every single acre that gets cleared.
This week, we’re clearing two full acres, which means by the end of it, we’ll have a total of three acres cleared and ready for our future farmstead. Only two more acres to go before our vision of a 5-acre Florida homestead is wide open and ready to bloom.
I can’t tell you the feeling of standing on this ground, watching the overgrowth fall away. It’s like watching a dream step into reality. The sound of brush coming down, the smell of fresh earth, the sight of open space. Every part of it whispers: “God’s timing is perfect.”
Why Land Clearing is Such a Big Deal
For anyone following along, land clearing is the very first and most important step in building a working homestead. Without it, we can’t put up fencing, create pasture, plant gardens, or start building barns. Every acre cleared is another acre closer to:
Bringing home our silkie chickens and Nigerian dwarf goats 🐐
Planting our vegetable and flower gardens 🌸 We can already picture raised beds out here! We’ve been eyeing these garden seeds & these raised garden beds from Amazon!
Building the barn and barndominium 🏡
Opening our doors for field trips, homeschool days, and farm stand events 🍯
This is the foundation of everything we’re building for The Hammie Ranch.
Three Acres Down, Two to Go!
With three acres cleared, the property is already transforming. The sunlight is reaching places it hasn’t touched in years, and you can finally see the layout of our dream farm taking shape. Soon, we’ll have space for:
Goat pastures
A horse stall for my future foal - I bought her foaling halter already!
Chicken coops and duck runs - The incubator is already here!!!
A flower garden for “U-pick” days - The seeds I got for the U-pick Flower Garden so far!
A farm stand at the front of the property
Where we will have our known for cinnamon rolls waiting for you in the morning!
